If you believe you have mice infestation on your property, there are a few signs you can look out for that generally confirm your suspicions of unwanted pests.
Seeing the physical signs of mice in your home, you will notice mouse droppings around areas that have food, in cupboards, or under the sink. You will also see gnaw marks on furniture and holes that appear in walls and doors. More so, you will see indications of the nesting of paper materials and fabrics in your home.
What you should observe for:
Mice don’t need much room to get inside. Small gaps along the foundation, openings around utility lines, and hidden spaces behind walls are enough. Once they find a way in, they stay out of sight and move through wall cavities and mechanical areas.
The videos above show two common problem spots. One is a gap under the foundation where mice follow the exterior edge before slipping inside. The other is inside a mechanical room wall, where an unsealed opening gives them a direct path into the home.
Finding these areas is only part of the job. Each opening needs to be properly sealed, or new mice will continue to enter.

Mouse droppings can be very dangerous. Mice carry diseases and viruses in their feces, such as the hantavirus. The hantavirus can sometimes be fatal. If you notice animal feces in your home, give us a call immediately so we can determine the risk and ensure that it is dealt with properly.
Cheese being the most effective bait for mice is a myth. Mice are drawn to any food they can access, however they do not like cheese above any other foods. Instead they are most easily attracted to foods that are high in carbohydrates. (Fruit, grains, etc).
Mouse infestations are known to progress very quickly. The gestation period for mice is only 21 days, and they can have 8-12 babies in one pregnancy. A female mouse can have babies 5-8 times in a year; that’s up to 96 in a year!
Many people will make the mistake of vacuuming mouse droppings, we do not recommend this, as it is a health and safety concern considering the diseases that are carried through mouse droppings. Instead, we suggest that you first put on gloves and then spray a sanitizer on the droppings, sweep them up with old clothing or rags, and sanitize again when done.
Keep in mind that where mice leave feces, they will also leave urine, and these can both contain the hantavirus.
